HM Boys - Review |
HM Boys, launched in January of 1998 and spearheaded by Jonathon, a uni-browed twink with a head shaped like a trophy with those big floppy ears he has, is a site catering to home-grown talent; hence the HM which means Home Made. Updated every Monday and Friday, HM Boys has some pretty decent talent and content for a very competitive price. You’re looking at 300 galleries of about 50 exclusive pics per, and almost 100 videos that run 30 or more minutes in length and that are all downloadable. Now if they could only get a cuter mascot instead of their resident webmaster, Jonathon, we’d be in business!

HM Boys is another home grown, amateur site that caters to twinks that have that “next-door” quality. You won’t find pumped-up hunks or Vogue-worthy him-boys to plaster all over your bedroom walls. These guys look like the teens that play hockey up the street or basketball at the local court. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Personally, I prefer witnessing hot teen hunks I’ve never laid on eyes before, but want to lay. If it’s someone that has been in the biz for a while or someone I have seen scores of times before, it lacks that emotional punch or edge. These boys are new, exclusive and improved.
The site itself is crafted pretty well. Jonathon, the webmaster, may be ugly, but his site certainly isn’t. Much of it is rendered in Flash, but you have the option to use regular HTML if you want to. I like the fact that you can choose both options and aren’t pidgeon-holed one way or the other. Hooray for Democracy!
The tour section is quite expansive as it includes many of the models it houses inside and a lot of copy to go with it. For instance, from one of the HM models himself:

Well, I always love looking at the other boys’ pictures - but, if you really want to know, I want to see them moving about and doing things… All sorts of things. Just like in real life. Or like in a movie. And that’s no problem - because every week we add top quality movies of the HMBoys to the site. Sometimes it’s a hot couple exploring every inch of each other’s bodies - and using every inch of their own bodies to do it! Once a paying member, you get access to the main gallery which includes links to other websites. Often, these cross-promotional deals get confusing, since you have to join or sign in to the new site to find out what's not altogether there. And then you can't find your way back to the original site. With HMBoys, however, the webmaster reviews the linked sites and presents a sizable number of direct thumbnail links to pictures in the promoted site. Some of the stories are illustrated with high-quality erotic comics, including a flash-animated cartoon.
The site features two types of galleries: enhanced and regular. If you choose the enhanced gallery, you can pick a picture and start a slide show, this makes for easy surfing. The site loads fast and has an easy to navigate interface. The only issue I had with the videos was that you had to enter your username and password each time, which makes it rather difficult to grab the tissue, the lube and type all at once.
The videos are, unfortunately, all of a Real Player quality. At only 350kps, some of the fare looks grainy, but decent. If they only had WMV or MPG’s, I would be one very happy twink camper. The movie clips are broken down into smaller chunks for easier downloading. One thing I would have liked to seen was an option to download the entire video at once, for those of us with faster connections. It gets old downloading 12 one minute clips if you can do it all at once. That’s why you should always have a video joiner on hand. Annoying, but sometimes necessary.

Conclusion
HM Boys is a decent site with pretty good content and some funny bonuses and extras.
But HM Boys, being around as long as it had, should have much more content and some better range of videos. Real Media is ok, but shouldn’t be the standard for a site when there’s DIVX and other more crisp and clean viewers out there. The site caters to what a twink lover wants, but they absolutely need to have longer videos and offered in other video formats. With some more tweaking and fine tuning and this twink site can hang its head(s) high!
